Food Redistribution

The Food Redistribution Program is an ALL volunteer program that seeks to rescue food destined to be thrown out and re-distribute it to people in need. Holy Family operates two vans, six days a week (Monday through Saturday). We currently pick up usable food from 13 supermarkets and 3 restaurants in the Omaha, Nebraska, area.

The food is then distributed to 20 organizations and agencies that serve the poor. The food is either used by the agencies in their meal preparations or is given directly to families for their use.

We have several volunteers, most of whom are Knights of Columbus, who work in pairs to pick up the food.  From November, 2016 to February, 2017, averages were 16, 261 lbs of baked goods, 4,257 lbs of produce, 4,240 lbs of frozen meats, and 3,087 lbs of groceries, for a total of 27,845 lbs each month.

Donations for upkeep and fuel for the vans are greatly in need. Send donations to Holy Family Food Redistribution, 1715 Izard St., Omaha, NE 68102, or click the ‘Donate’ button below.  Mark checks For Food Redistribution.   We are in need of drivers and helpers.  If you would like to help us help others through the Food Redistribution Program please contact:
